What EV Consumers Want
When it comes to the shopping experience, study shows they gravitate to nontraditional features, services.

Electric-vehicle buyers want a more personalized auto shopping experience, according to a new study that gauged transportation trends.
The McKinsey & Co. Future of Auto Retail Consumer Survey found shoppers leaning toward an EV purchase put a premium on personalization than do other car shoppers.
It says those consumers want few, preselected choices with the flexibility to change their minds before delivery; a simpler, more convenient process; and transparency on price. Their preferences within those parameters include prescheduled test drives and online financing.
“OEMs that want to create an innovative and desirable brand impression could consider heeding these preferences as electrification accelerates,” according to the report, which points out that the nontraditional shopping lists reflect the value EV shoppers place on innovation.
Compared to traditional auto shoppers, the study also found they want on-demand features; direct-to-consumer sales; simple, all-digital contracts; and even virtual-reality showrooms.
