KAR Promotes Fields to VP of IT Shared Services
Gary Fields, who joined the KAR group in 2003, was promoted to vice president of KAR IT Shares Services. He will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of any enterprise-wide technology solution implementations, as well as identifying and researching relevant emerging technologies.

CARMEL, Ind. — KAR Auction Services announced today that it has promoted Gary Fields to vice president of KAR IT Shared Services (ITSS).
The IT veteran will be responsible for providing oversight and coordination of any enterprise-wide technology solution implementations for ITSS, as well as identifying and researching relevant emerging technologies. He will also play a critical role in setting the ITSS strategic technology vision, according to the company.
“Throughout Gary’s career at KAR, he has demonstrated a meaningful understanding of technology’s impact on the automotive remarketing industry. He has significantly contributed to our continued evolution,” said Gary Watkins, CIO of ITSS.
Most recently, Fields served as the director of ITSS, where he simultaneously provided leadership for the enterprise architecture program and worked on a number of special initiatives.
Fields has been with the KAR group of companies since 2003, when he first joined as part of Automotive Finance Corporations (AFC) IT department. Throughout his years with the company, he has held a variety of leadership positions in application development, infrastructure, IT operations and IT architecture, according to the company.
