Fix It Forward Program Helps Man Regain Mobility
Albuquerque consumer who suffered a life-changing injury regains the use of his vehicle after Fiesta Volkswagen's service team shared his story with DOWC Cares.

A Fix It Forward winner received critical vehicle repairs, restoring independence and access to daily life after months without transportation.

DOWC Cares' Fix It Forward program recently selected a new recipient, helping an Albuquerque resident regain access to reliable transportation after a medical event left him without the ability to drive.
The man was nominated by George and the service team at Fiesta Volkswagen after a service visit revealed broader financial challenges tied to a serious injury. During recovery, the customer was unable to work and could not afford necessary vehicle repairs, leaving him without transportation for more than six months.
Repairs Restore Access to Transportation
The customer’s vehicle required a new key fob, battery replacement and additional diagnostic work. Due to financial constraints, he had deferred the repairs, preventing him from using the vehicle.
Fiesta Volkswagen submitted the case to the Fix It Forward program, citing the role that reliable transportation plays in supporting access to care and daily needs.
Through the program, the required repairs were completed, allowing the recipient to resume use of his vehicle and support his recovery.
Fix It Forward assists individuals and families facing financial barriers to vehicle repairs by covering necessary service costs and helping restore mobility.
